The 1950's was a great time to be a kid. I remember an old lady on our block that would give me roll of butter rum lifesavers if I would go to the corner store for her.

Does the younger generation have our work ethic?
by compound complex ingreetings, you hard workers:.
i've had enough of speaking in generalities during my time as a jw evangelizer.
while my own experience will offer up mere anecdotal examples at best, my contemporaries and i have found that kids today lack the earnestness and drive we older folks have had since youth: setting up a lemonade stand; doing yard work without power assist; mopping floors; running errands for a dime; cleaning parking lots, etc.

Life during the 1,000 reign???
by Joliette inme and my brother recently got into a discussion about the 1,000 reign.
i told him that even after armageddon, you know that you still have to work for your salvation??
he says yes, that he is prepared to work for jehovah (wth), and that it will be a wonderful time.

the 1000 years will be like life in Venezuela after socialism or life after the bolshevik revolution in Russia or maybe like Zimbabwe
Everyone will be so happy

It was the winter of our discontent we couldn't even pay the rent
everything we had was spent we felt our lives would soon ferment
we knew we had to circumvent and revel in our discontent

One day the Nouns were clustered . . .
by compound complex inone day the nouns were clustered on the street.. an adjective walked by, with her dark beauty.
the nouns were struck, moved, changed.
the next day a verb drove up, and created the sentence.. -- kenneth koch, "permanently".

When I was in school we learned little poems to remember things. To find and adverb this test try ask how or when or where or why. Conjunctions as their name implies are joining words they are the ties that bind together day and night calm but cool dull or bright. Prepositions show relations like with respect or in our nation.
I just dug that stuff up out of my brain from my childhood didn't even know it was there.

Immigration is not what you think it is...for a reason
by TerryWalstrom inif somebody knocks on your door and wants to enter your home (for whatever reason) you are faced with a decision process based, in part, on your ability to suss out why you do or do not allow entrance.. agreed?example:.
"i'm being stalked by a madman--please let me hide inside" would be a strong emotional reason.
""i'm with a group of jehovah's witnesses, we want to brainwash you.

Immigration is fine if it is controlled and the people want to assimilate. You can't just open the front door with a sign that says "take whatever you want". If you look at the chaos in Europe right now you can see that disaster is upon them. Islam has a terrible agenda and they want Sharia law. The governments in Mexico and El Salvadore are corrupt and yes it's bad but there's a reason why it's the way it is. People bring their culture with them and it's not always tasty food and music.

The Desolation of One Man
by compound complex inhe has searched long for that love of all loves, but it hastens not, although winter has come and left him desolate of every hope of warmth, comfort, and prospect of his name's immortality.
nor will this elusive love reveal itself in his tiny dreams, allowing, at the very least, a gossamer of muted visions that would elevate a worn and bitter man to a level of expanded vistas, kindling within the flame of love's illusion..

Have you ever gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
by stuckinarut2 injust wondering if anyone has gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
(perhaps to an area far from your old khall where you know no one).
with all the changes from 2012 onwards (videos, tv screens, new meeting format, new songs etc) it would be an odd experience to be in attendance!.

great to see a trek tv series finally get a reasonable budget.
beautiful costumes, sets, cinematography, action pieces, etc.. really my only complaints are how cg all the ships look and there's a fair bit of stiff dialog from time to time.. what do you guys think of the show?.

There's a new show that I've only seen two episodes but it's real unusual called counterpart. I'm hoping it will go to a place where no one has gone before.
